Time For Life
time for life color.gif Over the past four years The Black Dog has been affiliated with Time for Life a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and implementing programs and services to meet the needs of children with cancer and their families.

time for life group.gif In the beginning of the relationship The Black Dog sold special Time for Life T-shirts with the famous Black Dog logo along with a smaller puppy version of the Dog, the proceeds going directly to Time for Life.

time for life table-chowder.gif In the year 2003 The Black Dog held it’s first ever fundraiser for Time for Life. The Black Dog held a Chowderfest involving eight restaurants in the Falmouth area, where Black Dog’s latest store opened.

chowderfest #16.gif Over 1000 people attended the Chowderfest with the option of buying Black Dog mugs at $5.00, proceeds going directly to Time for Life. In only two hours Black Dog was able to raise almost $3000 for the cause. It was such a huge success it’s been determined it will become an annual event involving more and more participating restaurants. Boston Children's Hospital
Starting in 2002, The Black Dog has yearly donated their tall ships Shenandoah and Alabama to more than 75 kids and their family members for whom Boston Children’s Hospital is their second home.

For this week these children are not heart transplant patients, or the leukemia kids in the next ward. They are neither stuck with needles or looped through high-tech machines. For these magical days their parents forget about blood counts, organ rejection, and the next visit to yet another specialist at Boston Children’s Hospital. For these magical days they are just moms, dads, kids and aunts on an old wooden boat skimming across Vineyard Sound.

“To outsiders it might look like any group of passengers on board, but knowing what these families and children struggle with every day and what they’ve overcome, makes this a gift that won’t be forgotten,” says Emily King from Boston Children’s Hospital Center for Families. This unforgettable week of sailing has become a yearly tradition with The Black Dog and Boston Children’s Hospital. For more information on the annual sail contact The Black Dog Tall Ships at 508-693-1699, or use the link to them on the left.

Wounded Warriors
jameswright.jpg Wounded Warriors was started by the soldiers, sailors, airmen, civilians and Marines of the U.S. European Command to purchase quality-of-life items for those soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines wounded or injured in Iraq and Afghanistan and evacuated to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany.
